No. Per electrical code, a circuit must be rated for 125% of the continuous load. To charge at 48 amps, you must have a 60-amp breaker and appropriately sized wiring.

Many modern 200-amp panels can handle a charger without issues. However, if you have a 100-amp panel or many high-draw appliances, a panel upgrade or a smart load-management device may be required.
